Local Flavours
Birtch Farms
Woodstock, ON – Believe it or not, the best food around is grown right in your back yard. On Sunday, September 28th, 2008 come out to Birtch Farms from 1pm to 4pm. They’re hosting a new event called “Local Flavours,” and will have an outdoor tent set up with samplings of local foods prepared by some very talented local chef’s.
This festival was created because The Birtch Farms family decided after many years of educating children and families about the value of local food, it was time to create a new festival for just that reason. “This is a celebration of local foods, farmers and restaurants that will tempt your taste buds and inspire your inner chef” says Dyann Birtch of Birtch Farms.
A number of local chef’s are partnering with Birtch Farms during this event. There will be appetizers, finger foods and nibbles created by such local chefs as Eric Boyar from SixThirtyNine, Jed Lau from Southgate Centre, Joan Hodder from Charles Dickens Pub, Sean Porter who is a local caterer and Ginger Taylor who is Birtch Farms’ own pastry chef. Each of the chefs’ creations will be paired with Birtch Farms wines. Tickets for food and wine sampling will be sold at the farm on the day of the event.
Bob and Dyann along with their three sons have resided on this farm for over 20 years. Each member of the family helps on the farm in various ways - from selling fresh produce at the farmer's market to selling wine in the wine store. Quality products, fun and education for all ages and warm personal service is what you can expect to find at Birtch Farms.
This festival will be part of their annual fall festival line up along with their Apple and Pumpkin Festivals. You won’t want to miss this exciting new event at the farm. For more information on Birtch Farms and Estate Winery you can visit their website at www.birtchfarms.com
